Les Baxter was WAY before his time, and the artwork on the 1950's album is absolutely unbelievable! I can't believe they didn't censor it! |
"Music for Peace of Mind"
SOLD!!!!Another way ahead of it's time, 1950's album (10") that is way hard to come by! These vinyl records are in fantastic shape, with only slight surface scratches. Another one of the risque cover artworks, that amazingly was not censored!!! This album makes use of the "Theramin", a strange instrument that is not played by touching it, you wave your hands around it's antenna, and it has been described as a "controlled radio squeal"... Remember the spooky black and white "B" space movies? Those musical scores and space sounds involved the use of the Theramin quite often. SOLD!!!The original 1950's pressing of this 10" album, c. 1950's, with cover art done by William George. This album really gets into the tribal beat with a "tone poem" that includes the sounds and the struggles of the jungles, combined with the tempo and texture of the sea ports. According to the liner notes, "for the first time, on record, the rhythms and musical sounds of secret and highest orders of native tribes are used to transform the jungle mat into a colorful stage for the violent emotional expressions of the mysterious and primitive folk" Original Capitol recording #H288. |
